Naartjie

They are rich in vitamin A and C, calcium, iron, and zinc. It is safe to say that they have much higher nutritional value than regular cabbages. As for the taste, when raw, they are crispy and juicy with a mild flavor, and when cooked, they get sweet and soft. 

Nori

Do you know that green wrapping around your sushi? That is Nori. It is an edible Japanese seaweed essential to countless Japanese dishes – billions of sheets are made per year! It has a strong sweet and salty flavor. 

Nutrition-wise, it is a good protein and carb source. The ratios of iron, zinc, and potassium are also enough to label it as extremely healthy. 

Nopal

Nopals are the pad-looking cactuses that are used as common side vegetables in Mexico – after removing the spines and cooking of course. They are also known as prickly pear cactus and have a crunchy texture and a citrusy taste. 

As for nutrition, they have rich antioxidants, vitamin A, C, D, calcium, magnesium, and others. They also have a long list of health benefits like regulating blood sugar levels and reducing cholesterol.

Naan
